Overview: Microsoft 365 / Outlook Integration
Abra’s Microsoft 365 / Outlook integration allows your organization to identify vendor buying intent signals across your organization by connecting directly to your Exchange Online tenant.
Abra connects to your Exchange Online tenant once, through a standard Microsoft admin-consent flow. After that, Abra reads calendar event metadata (event title, start/end time, organizer, attendees, and response status) to power Signals.
- Read-only. Abra requests no write access and cannot create, edit, move, or delete any calendar, event, or mailbox.
- One-time setup. A single admin consent connects the whole organization. There is no per-user setup and nothing for individual employees to do.
- No dependency on the person who connects it. After consent, Abra authenticates with tenant-level app-only tokens — not the admin's account — so the integration keeps running even if that admin later leaves.
Prerequisites
- A Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online organization (not a consumer Outlook.com account).
- A Global Administrator (or Privileged Role Administrator) to grant tenant-wide admin consent. This is required by Microsoft for any application-level permission — it is not an Abra design choice.
- About 5 minutes. The connection is a one-time action for your organization’s tenant.
There is no licensing requirement beyond having Exchange Online mailboxes — the integration works on standard Exchange/Microsoft 365 plans.
Permissions Abra Requests
All permissions are read-only application permissions:
| Permission |
Why it's needed |
Calendars.Read |
Read calendar events (title, start/end, organizer, attendees, RSVP status). |
User.Read.All |
Read the directory user list so Abra knows which mailbox calendars to sync, and automatically picks up new hires and departures. |
Note: Abra requests no write permissions of any kind.
